As a lifelong athlete, Sequoia's passion for pushing her body fueled her curiosity for various sports, including rugby and track & field.  After graduating from VCU, Sequoia continued her pursuit of developing a well-functioning body.  Advanced calisthenics sparked her interest before becoming more serious about weightlifting.  Today, Sequoia enjoys using various training modalities to maintain a strong, agile body.  She encourages everyone, friends and clients alike, to live a balanced life inside and outside of the gym.  For Sequoia, training is not about having a "beach body".  Training is about promoting a healthy body, being grateful for life, and exploring the endless possibilities of what is possible.  Sequoia, who is a 420lb Deadlifter, and a near 400lb Squatter, takes great pride in displaying the true strength of a woman.  Sequoia is a great coach no matter your fitness level or gender!  Think Sequoia sounds like the coach for you?  Reach out to her at sequoia@dedicatedstrengthdc.com

I wasn’t a stranger to exercise before I started working with Sequoia, but my lifts had all pretty much stalled out and I was frustrated that even though I felt like I was working hard, I never seemed to get any stronger.  Since I started working with her, I’ve been hitting some significant PRs and my technique in the powerlifting and olympic lifts has improved so much.

Sequoia is all the things you’d want in a trainer: she knows what she’s doing, isn’t judgmental, is incredibly encouraging, and she’s a really good “hype man” when you need an extra push. She also actually listens to what’s important to you goals-wise to make sure you get what you need.  I am pretty sure she gets more excited when I make progress than I do which makes her a rare find.  I am totally lucky to have found her.

I could not be happier with the progress I've made working with Sequoia.  We've done over 50 sessions so far, and I don't plan to stop anytime soon.

Before coming to Dedicated Strength, I wasn't making any progress in my fitness goals. I was gradually succumbing to my 30s and a less than healthy DC lifestyle.

Now working with Sequoia for less than a year, I’m as strong as I’ve ever been and looking forward to new milestones. I’m excited for the gym, something I really haven’t experienced. And I’m looking fit and feeling great.

I’m so happy to have found Sequoia and Dedicated Strength.
